Medi-Cal is California’s version of the Federal Medicaid program. Medi-Cal offers no-cost and low-cost health coverage to eligible people who live in California.

CalFresh (formerly known as Food Stamps) is a nutrition program that supplements a low-income family’s food budget in order to ensure they are getting adequate nutrition.
CalFresh can only be used to purchase food items and beneficiaries receive benefits electronically on an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card.

The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program provides temporary financial assistance and employment-focused services to families with minor children who have income and property below State maximum limits for their family size.
If a family has little or no cash and needs housing, food, utilities, clothing, or medical care, they may be eligible to receive immediate short-term help.
Participation in the GAIN program is mandatory for all CalWORKs participants unless exempt. GAIN provides employment-related services to CalWORKs participants.

The Restaurant Meals Program (RMP) allows the homeless, disabled, and elderly (age 60 and over) receiving CalFresh benefits to use their California EBT cards to purchase meals from participating restaurants.

There are three ways to apply for DPSS benefits
The easiest and quickest way to apply for DPSS benefits is online at BenefitsCal website.
BenefitsCal is a website for Riverside County Residents to apply for and to view their benefits online.
Currently, BenefitsCal supports CalWORKs, CalFresh, General Relief, and MediCal applications.
